Know ye that for diver's good Causes and Considerations but more Especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty five Shillings of good and Lawful Money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do Give Grant and Confirm unto JOHN YATES one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing three Hundred and forty eight Acres lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on the South Branch of Dan River and bounded as followeth (to wit)
Beginning at WILSONs Corner Pointers in JOHN YATES former line thence on WILSONs lines North sixty two Degrees East two Hundred and twenty poles crossing three Branches to a Willow Oak in a Glade, south one Hundred and seventy eight Poles to his Corner in the Country Line thenc along the same East one hundred and sixty Poles to a black Oak Saplin, thence ? new lines North twenty three degrees East one Hundred and seventy four Poles to Pointers North forty degrees West ninety poles to a red Oak near HUGHE's Corner West one Hundred and sixty two Poles to a red Oak North sixty Degrees ?West? one Hundred Poles to a red Oak North forty six Degrees West one Hundred and forty four Poles to a Spanish Oak North eighty eight Degrees West fifteen Poles to a white Oak in the aforesaid JOHN YATES old line thence on his lines South fifty six Poles to a pine South twenty degrees East two Hundred Poles to a red Oak South forty degrees West sixty two Poles to the Beginning With all ? To have hold ? to be held ? Yielding and paying ? Provided ? In Witness ?
