Mildred Shelton was born on November 27th, 1856 to Sarah J. Winstead and Joseph Zealot Shelton. Not much can be said for little Mildred as she died on October 2nd, 1857, at the age of about 10-1/2 months old. She had a sister, Mary E. Shelton whom she would never know, as she was born in 1859, and a half-sister she would never know, Queen Tinney Shelton, who was born to her father and his second wife, Catherine Gates.
