FOURTH GENERATION - SOLOMON KING(1554)

Solomon King(1554) is the one who left the Bible record. He should not be confused with the Solomon King whose wife was Amy and who died in Edenton in 1761. I believe that the Solomon King of Edenton is an uncle, but have no conclusive proof. The wife of Solomon King was Abigail Lee, daughter of John Lee, Junior, son of the John Lee who patented land on Cypress Swamp in 1694. The following entry is found in Solomon's Bible- "John Lee Father in lLaw to said Solomon King Departed this Life febuary 9 day 1770"

The patent to William King(15) in 1703 was near the patent to John Lee. Solomon King(1554) is found prominently in the records of Chowan County and of Gates County formed from it. In 1753 he was given the 461 acres on Cypress Swamp by his father Charles King(155). I have already shown that this included part of the 1703 patent to William King(15). In 1759 he exchanged this 461 acres with his brother Henry King(1555) for land on Rocquist Pocosin in Bertie County. He lived in Bertie County near his brothers on Rocquist until 1766 when he sold the land and later returned to what later became Gates County. Solomon died in 1795 and left a will naming his children and grandchildren. After his death his widow Abigail married Demsey Sumner 25 November 1796. Solomon had five daughters, but no sons.
