1675, Dec 10 - JOHN KING, age 27, sitting by the fireside, being not well, and John Gethings sitting by deponent having two fingers cut off and the other rotted off taking it to heart, fell sick, and Mary Wycombe standing asked him would he leave that he had. He replied that what he had he left to Mary Wycome and said Mr. Digges was to give him for one year 2000 lbs tobacco or 15 pounds and within a day or two he died. signed JOHN KING.

Note! - In 1719 Ahoskie swamp was in Chowan Precinct, but in that part west of the Chowan River. It became Bertie Precinct in 1723. In 1759 the area including Ahoskie Swamp became a part of Hertford County.

Note!-This area is in Chowan Precinct, but is not the same area as the other patents on Bennetts Creek and its tributaries. It is really only a short distance from Ahoskie Swamp, but is on the ES of Chowan River, whereas Ahoskie Swamp is on the WS.
