Chimney Rock in Gallia Co., OH

"Gallia County, Ohio."

Local residents gather near the Saluda (Mustain) Shelton burial site. This photograph was donated by Jim Shelton and a welcome addition to the Shelton pages. These types of photos are incredible! Saluda Mustain was the wife of Claiborne Shelton and the mother of John, Joel, Henley, Jesse, just to name a few. This data was provided by Jim, also.

"Near this rock there is a cave where Claiborne and his family lived for two years, c1812-14. Saluda died during that time and she was buried near the rock. Many years ago the rock was removed by the local public works people because it was a danger to road traffic below." ~ Jim Shelton

John Shelton's Log Cabin

Photo taken in 1987

This is a photo of the log cabin built in 1812 by John Shelton, son of Claiborne Shelton and Saluda Mustain.

The recently remodeled version. (Nice!)

This photo was taken in 1987. The dark section behind the middle tree is the cave.

This image is a map that shows where the log cabin, the cave, and the rock were.
