Tina:
I found the following marriage record on microfilm #0831238 which you <--- LDS microfilm
might want to add to your web page. Chockly King is in the Henry King
line. There is no marriage date listed on your page. Also, his given
name is not Chockley.

Chocolate King married Kissiat Brewer
12 Feb 1869
performed by Wm. Turner
at the home of Wm. Turner
Witnesses: Sally Brewer (Kissiah's sister) and Elizabeth Turner

His Civil War records have him listed as "Chuklut" King, which I believe
is someone's phonetic spelling of chocolate. In other records I have
from Sue Ann Morrow, it states that Chockley was so named because of his
dark skin, said to be proof of his Indian blood.

Thank you,
Corinne

Lou Pero had the following on her website.
"Offie King (s/o Chockley and Kissiah King)
    married Ella T. (Unknown)1901
    children were Clifton b. 1902
    and Rebecca b. 1906
There may be two missing children of Chockley and Kissiah."

The above information comes from the 1910 census which looks like the
following:
Dwelling 115-115
KING, Offir, 30, mar. 1, mar. 9 yrs., b. KY
. . Ella T., 32, mar. 1, mar 9 yrs, b. KY
. . Clifton, 8, b. KY
. . Rebecca, 4, b. KY

This is the only record that anyone has ever found to substantiate the
idea of Offie and Ella being married. It took along time to find enough
to prove this entry wrong. I have personal knowledge of my grandmother
telling me her father was John Tomlinson. Ella's obituary states she
was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Chockley King. She first married John
Tomlinson. He died in 1908. Clifton and Selma Rebecca Tomlinson
preceded her in death. Her only living sibling in 1969 was Elsie
Gilbert, who is Alice (called Alsey/Elsie) King.

Records I have found:

Allie King Dec. 18, 1883 (this is Ella, previously
unknown)
Ailsey King Aug. 16, 1888 (this is Alice)
Patience King Oct. 7, 1890 (this is Patience Rebecca)

1900 Harlan County Federal Census
Dwelling 1670-1672
TOMBLESON, John, 20, b. Nov. 1879, VA (should be TOMLINSON)
. . Cynthia E., 17, b. Dec. 1883
. . Harvey, 14, b. Nov. 1885 brother

This dwelling is next door to Kissiah King. It is also the same
dwelling (next door to Kissiah) in the erroneous 1910 census. My
assumption is that Offie moved in with Ella after John died. Ella and
John were married for 9 years. Somehow the enumerator or Ella
misunderstood the questions or answers. The files of Sue Ann Morrow
have Offie married to someone else first. I have not verified this
fact. If he was married to Ella it would have stated married twice.

On Ella's original application for a Social Security number dated 3 May
1938 she states that her father is Chockley King and her mother's maiden
name is Kisey Hamilton. A cousin (granddaughter of Alice King) and I
are now trying to find a second marriage for Kissiah to a Hamilton. No
luck so far. I think Ella put down her current name instead of her
maiden name. Also, this cousin has talked to her other cousins who
remember their Aunt Ella coming to visit.

So you see Offie and Ella are brother and sister, not married. Ella
married John Tomlinson abt. 1899. He died in 1908. She marrried 2nd
Gunder Twedt (she was a mail-order bride) in 1911 and moved to ND with
Clifton and Rebecca (my grandmother).

I hope some of this makes sense.

Corinne
