HENRY KING OF BRUNSWICK CO VA

FOURTH GENERATION, cont

Our ancestor Wood King (fourth generation from Henry 1) first wed Francis Duke in 1780.

Child:
	Bennett King

Wood King m Wife #2 Hexy Childress apx. 1792.
Child:
Woodard P. King was born apx. 1802.

Wood all together with both wives had 13 children, only the names of two boys are known. Wood King died in early 1825, his Inventory was acknowledged by widow Hexy.

FIFTH GENERATION

Son Woodard P. King wed (6) Elizabeth Capps, Dec. 1822. A copy of their marriage bond is on file and proved to be a "key" element in linking father to son.

Woodard P. King is rumored to have spoke in "broken' English, wore long hair and carried a large knife. His mother, Hexy was probably half or more Indian, I personally suspect that Elizabeth Capps may have been part Indian as well, her mother was Mary House Capps, The House line is known to be from the Cherokee lines.

Woodard P. & wife Elizabeth moved away from Warren Co. by 1827 & were in Surry Co. for a few years then were in Wayne Co. N.C. in 1838 (they seem to have taken a round-about way to get to their final destination of Kentucky). They arrived in Harlan Co. by 1844, and are listed in the 1850 census there.
