GENERATION THREE - MICHAEL KING(142)

Michael King(142) was a minor in 1717 under the guardianship of an uncle, John King(13). By 1719/20, however, he is shown to be married and his wife is named Isabella. Controversy exists as to her surname prior to marriage. I believe she was Isabell Bell, daughter of Robert Bell. This is shown by Michael King receiving part of the estate of Robert Bell at his death. This is surely in right of his wife, Isabell. There are others, however, who believe she was Isabella Ferguson prior to her marriage. There was indeed an Isabell Ferguson earlier, but court records show that she died in 1719. The Isabell who was the wife of Michael King was still living when Michael died in 1742. There are many records pertaining to Michael King(142). He lived on Salmon Creek as did his father. He wrote his will in 1741 and it was probated in 1742. A number of documents exist in which he signed his name "Mikel". All of the children of Michael(142) and Isabella were minors at the time of his death. Estate records in 1743 show Isabella to have remarried as she is referred to as Isabella Diall.

GENERATION FOUR - MICHAEL KING(1421)

Michael King(1421) was still a minor when his father died in 1742. He appeared to be the oldest son as he was allowed to choose his own guardian, showing that he was at least 14 years of age. Michael(1421) married Mary Snell, the daughter of a neighbor Roger Snell. He accompanied his father in law to Duplin County about 1750 and then sold his land in Bertie County. GENERATION FOUR - JOHN KING(1423)

John King(1423) accompanied his brothers, Michael and Henry to Duplin County. His wife was Senea, surname unknown. He bought and was granted additional land adjoining his brothers. In 1774 he sold land in Duplin County with the deed indicating that he was then a resident of Craven County, SC. He returned to Duplin County in 1778 and repurchased the land he had previously sold. I have not found a record of his death and do not know the names of his children. He could have died in SC.

GENERATION THREE - CHARLES KING(143)

Charles King was the third son mentioned in the will of Henry King(14). He was given land on Salmon Creek by his father and was shown to be still living on this land in 1729. I did not find any records where this land was sold nor did I find Charles here after this date. He could have died and no record of his death exists or he could have migrated to another county or state. There were Charles Kings found in adjoining counties as well as in SC at dates after 1729.
