At this time I wish to enter four dates of death found in Solomon Kings Bible. These are for his mother, father, uncle and aunt. Because Solomon is a grandson of William King(15) three of these will be children of William King(15).
"Charles King Father of Solomon King Departed this Life January the 15, 1762".
"Mary King Mother of Solomon King Departed this Life February the 2 day 1762".
"Henry King uncle to said Solomon King Departed this Life December the 7 Day 1771".
"Mary Hare Aunt to said Solomon King Departed this Life February the 11 day 1774".
In 1759, that part of Chowan County where these four lived became a part of Hertford County. In 1779, the area where they lived in Hertford County became a part of Gates County. Hertford County is a "burned" county and there are no county records showing the deaths of these four. State records show that some left wills or estates that were administered. The contents of the wills or the makeup of the estates have not survived. Suffice to say that the state records substantiate the dates of death shown in Solomons Bible. It is unfortunate that these deaths occured during the 20 year period where no county records have survived.
SOLOMON KING(151)
Solomon King lived in Edenton, also in Chowan County and first appeared in the records there in 1741. (This is not the Solomon King who left the Bible). I have not proven that Solomon(151) was also a son of William King(15). The assumption is based partly on the name Solomon, the area where he lived and the dates that he lived. Solomon King(151) and the Solomon King who left the Bible record are the only two Solomon Kings in Chowan, Bertie and Gates Counties during the eighteenth century. It is conceivable that the younger Solomon King was named for an uncle, but this has not been proved. I am putting a question mark after Solomon King(151).
Solomon was a prominent citizen and merchant in Edenton. There are many surviving records for him. His wife was named Amy, surname unknown. Court records show that Solomon King(151) died intestate in Edenton in 1761. A business partner, James Luten, Esq. administered his estate.

MARY KING(1511) - m. Capt. John Hopkins in 1752.
MARY KING(153)
Mary King(153) was the wife of Moses Hare. There are a large number of records for Mary and husband Moses Hare. They lived in the same area as the two brothers of Mary, namely Charles and Henry, shown in Solomons Bible record above. These two brothers witnessed deeds for the Hares and vice versa. And like her brothers she and her husband have been located in the area that is now Gates County as well as the Rocquist pocosin area of Bertie County. According to Solomon's Bible Mary died in 1774. Two of the children of Mary are shown in land records prior to 1759 in which they were given gifts. There were probably other children.

HENRY KING(154)
Henry King(154) was found prominently in the records of that part of Chowan County that later became Hertford County. His first appearance was in 1725 when he witnessed a deed in which his brother Charles King(155) bought 221 acres of land from John Daverson. The land that Charles King bought adjoined the 541 acres patented by William King(15) in 1703. This deed and witness show both Henry King(154) and Charles King(155) to be of age by 1725. In 1728, a most unusual thing happened. Henry King(154) obtained a North Carolina patent on the exact same 541 acres of land granted by Virginia to William King(15) in 1703. This ties both Henry and Charles to William, just as shown in Solomon's Bible. It also ties William King(15) to Michael King the immigrant. It must be remembered that 1728 was the year in which the dividing line between the two colonies was finally established. The land granted in Virginia was now in North Carolina. It is probable that Henry obtained a North Carolina patent to assure clear title. This implies that he was living on the land prior to receiving the grant. These land transactions are sufficient to show that William King(15) was a resident of this area and not of Elizabeth City County Virginia. It also suggests that William died between 1725 and 1728.
The same day that Henry patented the 541 acres he sold 240 acres to his brother Charles. This gave Charles King(155) 461 adjoining acres, 221 that he bought from John Daverson and 240 that he bought from his brother Henry(154). I will later show that Solomon King(1554), he of the Bible record, lived on this same 461 acres at one time.
There are a large number of records for Henry King(154). He patented a dditional land in 1740 and also bought more land as shown in Chowan County deeds. Henry(154) was a vestryman, Justice of The Peace and later Captain of Militia. Henry died in 1771 according to Solomon's Bible record. Although Hertford County records have not survived, State records show that Sarah King was granted Administration of his estate as executrix of his will. Sarah is likely his wife, surname unknown. Although Henry(154) left a will, it has not survived. His children have been identified in several land transactions, some as gifts from their father and others when his estate was finally settled in 1791.
